Villa Deposits and Rental Payments in Bali: What to Confirm
Short answer: The deposit and payment schedule are agreed for each villa and rental period. Before transferring money, ask for written confirmation of the amount, what the payment covers, refund conditions and payment dates.
What to confirm before paying
Ask Balila or the owner to put these points in the agreement or written correspondence:
- the deposit amount and what it is intended to cover;
- when and how rent is due, whether in instalments or for the agreed period in advance;
- when the deposit will be returned after check-out;
- what deductions may apply, how the villa's condition will be recorded and who confirms any damage;
- which costs are included in the rent and which are charged separately.
Do not assume that every villa follows the same rules. Terms can differ by property, length of stay and the agreement with the owner.
Keep a clear payment record
Compare the agreed terms with the contract or written confirmation before transferring funds. Keep the payment receipt and the message showing the amount, currency, recipient and purpose. If one person pays for a group, confirm in advance whose name will appear on the rental agreement and who will receive the deposit refund.
Do not send money to changed payment details until you have confirmed them with a Balila representative or the owner through a contact channel you already know. If anything is unclear, pause and confirm it before paying.
Before check-out
Ask the owner or manager to inspect the villa with you. Photograph any visible damage and report it promptly, so there is a record of what was present before your stay. Confirm when and how the deposit will be returned, and keep that confirmation.
Balila can help clarify the terms for a specific villa before booking. The deposit amount, payment method and refund process are confirmed separately for each property.
