Long-term versus nightly rent in Bali: how the terms differ
Short answer. Nightly rent costs more per month but includes more services and carries almost no commitment. Long-term rent, from a month and especially for several months, is cheaper, but the terms are stricter: a deposit, metered utilities, sometimes repairs on you, and a longer notice period before leaving.
Nightly rent
This is the format for a holiday and a short trip. The price is higher, but cleaning, internet, electricity and water are usually included, and sometimes breakfast too. You can end it almost at any time, the deposit is small or absent. This is the option when dates are known in advance and plans may change.
Long-term rent
This is the format from a month up to a year. The price per month is clearly lower, but commitments appear:
- a deposit, usually around one monthly rate;
- metered utilities, you pay for what you actually use;
- cleaning and gardening may be included, or may be less frequent;
- a fixed term, with notice before leaving, usually one month.
For a family or for remote work this is the better value: over a year the difference against nightly rent covers the deposit and the utilities with room to spare.
Which to choose
- Up to two weeks: nightly, less hassle and more included.
- From a month to three: long-term rates are worth looking at, the saving becomes visible.
- From six months: long-term rent, and it is worth negotiating and pinning the terms in the contract.
We handle both formats: every villa in the catalogue lists its rate and term, and what the price includes. If a property fits your dates but the rate is not published, we request it from the owner and quote on request.
