Massage and spa in Bali: types, salons, in-villa service

Balinese massage, deep tissue, spa programmes and massage at your villa. How salons differ in Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud and what to ask before you start.
Massage in Bali is part of an ordinary day rather than a special outing: every tourist area has salons, from street-side places to hotel spas. There are three main kinds: gentle Balinese massage with oils, deep tissue work for muscles after surfing, and long spa programmes with a flower bath.
This section explains how the areas differ. In Ubud people tend to book longer programmes and body work; near the ocean in Canggu and Seminyak a short session after a surf is more common. We also cover how to book a massage at your villa when nobody wants to drive after a long trip.
You will also find what to ask before the session starts: which oil, how much pressure, how long it runs and whether the therapist has experience with injuries. We do not publish prices: they depend on the area and the season.
